چکیده
Saline ecosystems are often the target of spills and releases pollutants such as metals, many industrial companies settle in or around these areas. Metal pollution is a major threat for humans ecosystems. In line with sustainable development, nature-based solutions biological tools phytoremediation offer eco-friendly low-cost to remove metals limit their spread environment. Many plant-growth-promoting (PGP) effects frequently prospected plant-associated microbes production auxins, siderophores, extracellular polymeric substances enhance phytoremediation. Halophytes nowadays presented good phytoremediators metal-contaminated saline environments coastal regions, but little known about potential associated bioaugmentation this technique. Here, we review studies that focused on halophytes-associated plant-growth-promotion capacities. Moreover, discuss limitation applicability bioaugmented

Potential Use of Halophytes to Remediate Saline Soils
Salinity is one of the rising problems causing tremendous yield losses in many regions of the world especially in arid and semiarid regions. To maximize crop productivity, these areas should be brought under utilization where there are options for removing salinity or using the salt-tolerant crops. Use of salt-tolerant crops does not remove the salt and hence halophytes that have capacity to ac...
متن کاملGenetic engineering in the improvement of plants for phytoremediation of metal polluted soils.
Metal concentrations in soils are locally quite high, and are still increasing due to many human activities, leading to elevated risk for health and the environment. Phytoremediation may offer a viable solution to this problem, and the approach is gaining increasing interest. Improvement of plants by genetic engineering, i.e. by modifying characteristics like metal uptake, transport and accumul...
متن کاملUse of phytoremediation and biochar to remediate heavy metal polluted soils: a review
Anthropogenic activities are resulting in an increase of the use and extraction of heavy metals. Heavy metals cannot be degraded and hence accumulate in the environment, having the potential to contaminate the food chain. This pollution threatens soil quality, plant survival and human health. The remediation of heavy metals deserves attention, but it is impaired by the cost of these processes. ...

The potential of willow for remediation of heavy metal polluted calcareous urban soils.
Growth performance and heavy metal uptake by willow (Salix viminalis) from strongly and moderately polluted calcareous soils were investigated in field and growth chamber trials to assess the suitability of willow for phytoremediation. Field uptakes were 2-10 times higher than growth chamber uptakes. Despite high concentrations of cadmium (>/=80 mg/kg) and zinc (>/=3000 mg/kg) in leaves of will...
